On December 4th at our congregational meeting, the church voted NOT to accept the proposed budget. The congregation also chose to only reaffirm three of the six Pastor-Elders which were Mike Grenier, John Heater, and Jon Spinney. Mike Aiken, Scott Althouse, and Jim Stauffer have served Community EFC faithfully for the past 13 years and we thank them for their service, integrity, and faithfulness. Please be in prayer for them as they transition into their new roles in the congregation.
The Pastor-Elder team has put together a proposal that includes two options for the congregation to choose between regarding the direction of our church. That proposal is attached and is in hard copy form on the information table in the church lobby.
We will be having a congregational meeting on Sunday, January 8 following the second service to vote on these two options. In preparation for this vote, we are providing a number of opportunities for you to engage with the Pastor-Elder team with any questions, comments, feelings, concerns, clarifications of these two options so that our vote on the 8th will be an informed one.
Opportunities
Wednesday, December 21 and January 4th at 6:30pm in the Café, the Pastor-Elder team will be hosting an opportunity for conversations regarding these options specifically and our church’s future generally.
Wednesday, December 21 and January 4th at 6:30pm in the Worship Center, there will be a time of corporate prayer.
We are also making ourselves available to meet with existing Small Groups or if a group of folks would like to get together and meet with us we would be happy to do that as well. Please contact Pastor John (717-395-5581) if you would like to set up a meeting with the Pastor-Elder Team.
Our request is that each of us bathe this decision in prayer, seeking God’s direction for our church and not just voting for what we would like our church to be.
On January 8th we will also be voting on moving the excess funds left over in the Facility Fund to the Flood Cleanup/Restoration Fund to help with the cost of cleaning up after the flood. Please be in prayer for our church and her leadership and her people. God has incredible plans for us – let’s seek His face together and listen for His voice to lead us.
